Royal biographer Omid Scobie angered Swifties with claims Taylor Swift snubbed King Charles
Royal expert Omid Scobie has been targeted by Taylor Swift’s devoted fans.
In his latest book Game over, Scobie claimed Swift turned down an invitation to perform at King Charles’ coronation in May. However, Swifties were quick to call out his misleading statements.
As one fan pointed out, Swift was in the middle of her high-profile Eras tour on the coronation date. He had a concert that night in Nashville, making Scobie’s claim impossible.
“Look at this completely shameless lie. Taylor Swift was in the middle of her Eras tour – I was at the Nashville show the night of the Coronation,” remarked an angry Swifty.
Another wrote: “Calling Omid Scobie a royal expert is ridiculous and a bit of a stretch. He’s more Harry and Meghan’s mouthpiece and that was proven in court.”
Swifties also noted that he failed to mention that the Love story The hitmaker turned down a request from Meghan Markle to appear on her podcast.
When asked about the accuracy of his claims about Taylor Swift, Scobie said other artists have turned down coronation invitations as well.
But that did little to quell Swifties, known for standing up for their idol. Many fans took to the publisher’s social media to demand corrections.
Someone warned that Scobie had incurred the wrath of the rabid fans.
“He really, really, really doesn’t want to start with Taylor. He thought the royal family was cruel. He has not seen what the furious Swifties can do. I had to ask someone, man,” the fan wrote.
Scobie’s obvious lies about her program did not bode well. In addition, his credibility had already been called into question due to statements regarding the mention of two royal names in his book as royals who were concerned about the color of Prince Archie’s skin.
The author claimed that he “never submitted a book that had these names”, while the translators claimed that he had included the names.
