Karachi: As Ramadani is less than a week away, Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) announced the gas supply program for the sacred month on Wednesday.

In a statement, the SSGC said the gas would be available between 3am to 9am for SEHRI (lunch before dawn) and 3:30 pm up to 10 pm for the Iftaar meal during Ramadan.

“These timetables have been edited to provide our dear customers for ease of food preparations for Sehar and Iftaar,” the company said.

However, SSGC said, it should be borne in mind that around the country’s 10% annual exhaustion in the country’s natural gas reserves led to the expansion of gas demand.

The Pakistani Space and Upper Atmosphere Research Committee (Suparco) has issued a prediction to promote the crescent based on scientific evaluations, astronomical calculations and modern observation data.

The country’s space organization said in its analysis that the New Moon for Ramadan will take place on February 28 at 5:45 PST.

The probability of a moon observed on February 28 in Pakistan is extremely low given these scientific parameters. Consequently, Sha’ban is expected to complete 30 days and the first day of fasting will probably be observed on March 2.

In Saudi Arabia, the New Moon is also expected to be born on February 28, 2025.

However, due to the position of the moon in relation to the horizon and atmospheric clarity, the crescent is expected to be visible, leading to the start of Ramadan on March 1st. Pakistan, however, will start a day later.

Earlier this month, the Pakistani Meteorological Department (PMD) also predicted that the first day of fasting in Pakistan is expected to be reduced on March 2.

The sacred month, observed with religious warmth and zeal, will see millions of Pakistanis along with billions of Muslims around the world who observing a quick from dawn to sunset.

Like many other countries, Ramadan, in Pakistan, is characterized by increased charitable and public food movements with people who install street stalls for people returning to their homes at night.
