Singapore’s Changi Airport, known as the best airport in the world, has recently completed a major refurbishment, enhancing its already impressive facilities.

Changi Airport secured several accolades at the Skytrax World Airport Awards 2023, including Best Airport in the World Overall, Best Airport Food and Best Airport Leisure Amenities.

The terminal at the heart of the upgrade was Terminal 2 and the improvements have expanded its capacity, allowing it to serve an additional five million passengers per year, bringing the total capacity to 90 million passengers.

One of the notable additions to Terminal 2 is the stunning 46-foot-tall digital waterfall known as “The Magnificent.” Located in a vertical garden in the departure hall, this colossal digital screen displays breathtaking footage of water falls, offering passengers a relaxing and immersive experience as they wait for their flights.

The terminal also has a remarkable garden called Dreamscape, which features over 20,000 plants representing about 100 species. Under a ‘digital sky’ that changes colors to simulate different times of the day, this garden offers an enchanting atmosphere with the sounds of Singapore’s local wildlife.

For those who want to relax with a refreshing drink, Toni, the robot bartender at Lotte Duty Free Wines & Spirits offers free cocktails. The store itself is decorated with a huge LED ring that displays serene moonlit scenes, offering a luxurious and immersive shopping experience.

In addition, Terminal 2’s Gourmet Garden dining room offers not only delicious cuisine but also a panoramic view of the airport. Guests can enjoy an array of culinary delights, including cocktail fusions, chicken rice and fresh pastries, while gazing at up to 16 different planes through the floor-to-ceiling windows.

Families traveling with children can use the ‘2 Bears Hideout’, a dedicated play and entertainment area. Here, children can enjoy a variety of interactive activities in a unique and comfortable environment.

The expansion and renovation of Terminal 2 has added more than 21,000 square meters of space, housing new systems and retail spaces.

This includes the Fast and Seamless Travel (FAST) zone, which now offers double the number of automated check-in kiosks and baggage machines. The terminal also has automated special assistance lanes for young children and passengers with disabilities.

The renovation project was completed early, marking a significant achievement given that it was carried out amidst the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic. Changi Airport Group’s commitment to improving the airport’s facilities has further cemented its reputation as one of the world’s leading airports.
