ISLAMABAD: In the fourth cabinet reshuffle in less than 3 years, Prime Minister Imran Khan has taken away the portfolio of Interior from Brigadier (R) Ijaz Shah and handed it over to Sheikh Rasheed who previously served as Railways Minister.
Hafeez Sheikh, who served as the Finance Minister in the Pakistan People’s Party government has now been appointed as Finance Minister again by the Pakistan Tehreek e Insaaf despite not being elected to the National Assembly.
This comes as the Islamabad High Court ruled that unelected advisors like Hafeez could not head committees.
Brigadier Ijaz Shah has been retained in the cabinet with the portfolio of Narcotics Control while Azam Swati will be the new Railways Minister.
Prime Minister Imran Khan has come into criticism for the appointment of Sheikh Rasheed as Interior Minister since in a television talk show, Imran Khan publicly humiliated Sheikh Rasheed and said that he wouldn’t even hire Sheikh Rasheed as a Chapraasi (clerk).
