LAHORE: Veteran Pakistani film actress and mother of Shaan Shahid, Neelo Begum (real name, Cynthia Alexander Fernandes) has passed away after a protracted illness. She was 80.
Taking to social networking website, Twitter, film star Shaan Shahid confirmed that his mother has passed away. He said, “It is with the saddest of heart I share the departure of my mother as she has gone to her creator .may ALLAH bless her Red heart”
Soon after the actor’s tweet, social media users started condoling her sad demise and express deep grief and sorrow.
‘Abida Riaz’
Abida Riaz, commonly known by her industry name Neelo Begum, was born Catholic on June 30, 1940 in Bhera Tehsil, Sargodha. At the age of 16, she tried her hand at acting and had since acted in hundreds of films. She got her big break in the film industry when she performed on the song “Aaye mausam, rangilay suhanay” in the film Saat Lakh.
