KARACHI: Seasoned television actress Durdana Butt passed away at a private hospital in Karachi on Thursday, confirmed officials of Karachi Arts Council. For the past many years the renowned actress had been battling cancer.
According to sources, her condition started worsening a few days ago and she was shifted to a private hospital in Karachi where she breathed her last. Doctors confirmed that she had also been tested positive for COVID-19. Butt is best known for her roles in the dramas Fifty Fifty, Aangan Terha, Russia, Intezaar, and Tanhaiyaan. She was better known for her comic roles in different movies and television plays and was always respected by the juniors in the industry for the remarkable work she had done in the industry.
People from different walks of life took to Twitter to express their grief at the demise of veteran actors. Senator Faisal Javed wrote; Saddened to know of the passing of #DurdanaButt. May ALLAH rest her soul in peace. Ameen, She was a great actor and a professor. She has performed in classics from Fifty Fifty, Aangan Terha to Tanhaiyaan. Had met her a couple of times yrs ago & she would always motivate us.
Javed Sheikh said that Madam Durdana would always remain an Icon for newcomers; she was a versatile artist but earned fame because of her comic roles. The timings of her funeral could not be confirmed till the filing of this report.
