By our correspondent,
MNAs and MPAs belonging to The Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) has started a frenzy of resignations upon the call made by the PDM leadership.
Upon Nawaz Sharif’s directives, the opposition lawmakers have started to hand in their resignations to Maulana Fazlur Rahman, who is acting as the alliance’s head. All the parties obliged with his suggestion. But after the meeting, Maulana Fazlur Rahman said that these resignations would be submitted to party heads.
A number of politicians have already handed in their resignations, the names of which include MNA Sargodha Hamid Hameed and MPA Punjab Hina Pervaiz Butt.
“Imran Khan is Donald Trump’s duplicate copy”, a PML-N MNA from Sargodha, Chaudhry Hamid Hameed said in an exclusive conversation with The Pakistan Daily. “Keeping him in power for the next 2.5 years will mean nothing but misery for the nation; already Pakistan’s currency has reached the lowest point in the region and this will only mean further worsening of the overall situation in the country.”
Chaudhry Hamid Hameed further mentioned that the foreign policy is also in shreds and referred to the time when he went to Iran and confessed that members of Al Qaeda and the Taliban were using the country’s land for the training of their forces.
“We believe it’s our duty as the public’s representatives to take all the necessary steps against the federal government and ensure that Imran Khan is not allowed to continue with power for the next 2.5 years”, he said while concluding his statement.
Despite the alliance’s hostile progression towards its goal, PPP leader Aitizaz Hassan has said that compliance with Maryam Nawaz’s plan will not bear fruits since governments cannot be dismantled through processions or an en masse resignation.
He further added that the PDM should postpone their rally for the 13th of December. He strongly criticized the People’s Party’s willingness to go with whatever was being asked from them. He said that only the party which favored collective resignations should submit them, and not engage the involvement of the other parties in the movement.
Amidst all of this, Prime Minister Imran seems to be unmoved with the movements, openly stating that By elections would be held on the vacant seats. He also criticized the PDM’s notion of hosting widespread rallies across the nation saying that in times when the country is experiencing a second COVID19 wave, the oppositions’ agenda seems condemnable.
