Registration of people aged 65+ for Covid vaccination starts today

ISLAMABAD: National Command and Operations Centre (NCOC) chief Asad Umar has said that the registration for getting the COVID-19 vaccine have been opened for all citizens who are aged 65 and above.

In a tweet, the federal minister further added that citizens who wanted to register for the vaccination should SMS their CNIC number to 1166 for registration. The inoculation itself will be carried out in March, Umar confirmed.

Punjab Health Minister Dr. Yasmin Rashid, told Dawn TV on Sunday, that Pakistan is expected to receive the vaccine through COVAX by the beginning of March for people who are 65 plus.

Education minister tests positive

Punjab Minister for School Education Murad Raas has tested positive for COVID-19 and has advised everyone who came in his contact to get tested as well. The provincial minister shared the news via Twitter and prayed that the Almighty protect all of us.

Pakistan reports 1,048 new virus cases, 26 deaths in a day

Pakistan on Monday reported 26 deaths in a period of 24 hours and 1,048 new cases of COVID-19 after 32,019 tests were conducted in one day.

According to the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC), this was the second day of continuous drop in the number of deaths due to novel coronavirus. The number of critical cases in the country was 1,680 while the number of active cases stands at 25,747.

Pakistan’s total deaths with these latest figures have surged to 12,333 and confirmed cases 546,428.
