Punjab Police confirms attack on journalist Ambreen Fatima

LAHORE: Punjab Police has confirmed the attack on Ambreen Fatima, the wife of Ahmad Noorani in the Ghaziabad area.

Taking to Twitter, the official account for Punjab Police stated that the incident occurred last night in which unidentified people broke the windscreen of Ambreen Fatima’s car. According to the police, Ambreen brought the car to the police station herself and that an investigation has started.

The police has also confirmed that a case has been registered and the relevant SP Police is leading the investigation and trying to ascertain the identities of the individuals using CCTV cameras.

This attack comes shortly after Ahmad Noorani wrote a bombshell report which included a leaked audio reflecting Former Chief Justice of Pakistan, Saqib Nisar’s alleged role in the convictions of Nawaz Sharif and Maryam Nawaz Sharif.

The Pakistan Daily called Ambreen Fatima’s number multiple times but the phone was powered off.

President Punjab Union of Journalists, Qamar Zaman Bhatti strongly condemned the incident and demanded the perpetrators to be brought to justice. It is expected that journalist unions will announce protests across Pakistan after this incident.
