LAHORE: Punjab Union of Journalists (PUJ) condemned the threatening telephone call to The Pakistan Daily’s Editor Hamza Azhar Salam by Bahria Town.
According to the details, PUJ President Ibrahim Lucky, General Secretary Khawar Baig and the Executive Council have said in their condemnation statement that Hamza Azhar Salam is a responsible journalist and they consider it to be a threat to freedom of expression if anyone is harmed by any of his news. “If there is any problem, they should go to the court.”
PUJ President Ibrahim Lucky said that the leadership of PUJ is to protect their colleagues. If any loss of life or property happens to Hamza Azhar Salam, the elements who gave threats and their masters will be responsible.

While speaking to The Pakistan Daily, Hamza Azhar said, “I am extremely surprised that a Bahria Town representative openly threatened me without fear of any consequences only because Malik Riaz sb is extremely powerful. I welcome legal proceedings but threats to journalists especially after Arshad Sharif’s murder are unacceptable. I am grateful to the Punjab Union of Journalists for raising their voice on this issue.
“The Bahria Town representative threatened me of routes alternate to legal routes if I did not delete my tweet and stories which has caused me to fear for my life,” he added.
