PTI’s Khalid Khurshid appointed CM Gilgit Baltistan

GILGIT: Pakistan Tehreek e Insaaf (PTI) lawmaker Khalid Khurshid Khan has been appointed as the new chief minister of Gilgit Baltistan after securing 22 votes.

Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) leader, Amjad Hussain has been elected as the leader of the opposition since the PPP was the runner up in the Gilgit Baltistan polls.

Sayed Zulfiqar Bukhari, who serves as a Special Assistant to the Prime Minister congratulated Khalid Khurshid on his new journey.

Zulfi Bukhari, who is also considered to be a close friend of PM Khan said, “Congratulations to Advocate Khalid Khursheed on his oath-taking as CM Gilgit-Baltistan today. Congratulations to all ministers also upon taking oath. Big task ahead to take GB where it should be InshaAllah. Wishing you all success !”.

In an unprecended show of political unity, Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam-Fazl legislator, Rehmat Khaliq announced that his party would support every “legal and constitutional” step of the PTI government in Gilgit Baltistan despite the fact that JUI-F leader, Maulana Fazlur Rehman is leading protests against the PTI.

On the other hand, PML-N MPA Ghulam Mohammad claimed that his party would continue its efforts to resolve public issues

Newly appointed Chief Minister Khalid Khurshid vowed that every possible step would be taken to resolve the issues being faced by people of Gilgit Baltistan with health and education being his priorities.

While promising to boost tourism revenues, Khalid Khurshid also stated that Gilgit Baltistan’s merger with Pakistan was a historic move done under the leadership of Prime Minister Imran Khan.

Meanwhile, Senator Mushahid Hussain Syed lauded the release of Baba Jan who he termed as GB’s most prominent political prisoner.
