ISLAMABAD: In an attempt to deflect attention from its own foreign funding case which has been going on in the Election Commission of Pakistan, PTI has blamed JUI-F of getting funds from Iraq and Libya.
PTI member Farrukh Habib has formally lodged a foreign funding case at the ECP against JUI-F.
The evidence presented includes a transcript of a TV interview of former JUI leader Hafiz Hussain Ahmed, in which he claims that Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam has received foreign funding, Habib said.
Habib further demanded that dissident JUI-F leader Maulana Khan Muhammad Sherani should be called.
In contrast, Maryam Nawaz Sharif accused the PTI of taking funds from Israel and India, even providing details of the individuals who gave millions of dollars to the PTI, however, the ECP has taken no action in this regard.
Earlier, PM Imran Khan gave directions to government spokespersons in regards to countering the opposition’s claims and said that those trying to trap the PTI in a foreign funding case are now trapped themselves.
The foreign funding case has now become a key agenda of the Pakistan Democratic Movement’s (PDM) anti-government campaign, which they believe will oust Imran Khan.
