PTI activist Shahid Gondal passes away, PM offers condolences

RAWALPINDI: PTI activist and a senior member of the Insaf Lawyers Wing (lawyers wing of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf), Shahid Naseem Gondal passed away at a private hospital in Rawalpindi on Saturday night due to complications from the coronavirus, party leaders and his family confirmed.

The deceased was a famous Lawyer and chief law officer of the Capital Development Authority, Islamabad.

“Condolences pour in”

Condolences from Prime Minister Imran Khan and other senior PTI leaders poured in after news of his passing.

Taking to micro-blogging site, Twitter, PM Imran hailed Gondal as one of those who stood with him during the PTI’s “struggle against the political mafia”.

“Saddened to learn of Shahid Gondal’s passing. He was one of our most loyal workers who stood with us during our struggle against the political mafias. My condolences & prayers go to his family,” he tweeted.

Human Rights Minister Shireen Mazari also shared her condolences and praised Gondal for fighting the cases of PTI workers and leaders during the 2014 sit-in protests.

PTI leader Babar Awan said Gondal’s passing was a “great loss for PTI” and extended his “sincerest condolences” to the family.
