President of PSG Nasser Al-Khelaïfi was charged with Lagardère survey

President of PSG Nasser Al-Khelaïfi was charged with Lagardère survey

Paris President Saint-Germain Nasser Al-Khelaïfi has been accused of complicity in abuse of power in a research on a 2018 basic vote in Lagardère Group.

According to AFP, al-Khelaïfi was officially accused on February 5 of claiming that he influenced Qatar’s investment authority, the Qatar’s sovereign fund, to shift his attitude to an internal governance conflict concerning Arnaud Lagardère in return for non -exclusive benefits.

Judicial sources have confirmed that the PSG president is also facing charges of complicity in the vote and obstruction of voting rights.

The research focuses on whether Al-Khelaïfi played a role in reversing Qia’s original position to support Lagardère’s resolutions, days after his contact from the businessman and his associates.

A source close to Al-Khelaïfi rejected allegations, stating: “This case has nothing to do with Nasser al-Khelaïfi. His name is used inappropriately and in a few years, this case will collapse into silence.”

The case is part of a broader detection in Lagardère’s economic activities. Prosecutors claim that Lagardère was mistreated 125m euros by Lagardère SAS and Lagardère Capital & Management to finance personal expenses for several years.

The 2018 controversy saw a fight for the control between Vincent Bolloré, aligned with Amber Capital and Bernard Arnault, LVMH’s chief executive, who supported Lagardère.

Five days after Qia initially voted in favor of Amber Capital’s resolutions, the Fund changed its stance to support Lagardère.

Judges are considering whether this displacement was linked to the appointment of Jamal Benomar, a British-Court-Course diplomat with links to Doha, to the Lagardère Supervisory Council as a “independent member”.

Al-Khelaïfi has faced multiple legal procedures in recent years.

His indictment of corruption in Qatar’s bids for the 2017 and 2019 World Sports Championships was canceled by the Court Court in France in 2023, the ruling French courts had no jurisdiction.

The Parisian judges are also considering allegations of abduction and detention in Qatar made by Franco-Algerian Lobbyist Tayeb Benabderrahmane. Al-Khelaïfi has denied any participation and has submitted a report.
