
ISLAMABAD: One year after winning the World Cup, the national Kabaddi team was invited to meet President Dr Arif Alvi with a hope that the game will get its due status in the country.
President Dr Arif Alvi emphasized the need for promoting traditional sports in the country. He stated that players of various games need to be provided better coaching and improved training facilities to help achieve successes at international sports competitions.
The President gave these remarks while talking to National Kabaddi team, which called on him, at Aiwan-e-Sadr.
Federal Minister for Inter-Provincial Coordination, Dr Fehmida Mirza, President Pakistan Kabaddi Federation (PKF), Chaudhary Shafay Hussain, members of Pakistan Kabbadi team, and office bearers of PKF attended the meeting.
The President congratulated PKF and National Kabaddi team over winning the Kabaddi World Cup 2020 for the first time in the history of Kabaddi. He said that the nation was proud of the performance of its team which won the Kabaddi World Cup final.

The government needed to adopt innovative sports models to promote and popularize Kabaddi at national and international levels, he said. He also admired the achievements of the National Kabaddi team for promoting the soft image of the country.
Federal Minister for Inter-Provincial Coordination said that the Government was taking all steps for promoting sports in the country. She appreciated the President’s role in encouraging sports in the country.
