PPP to be the largest party in the senate, says Asif Ali Zardari

KARACHI: Former president Asif Ali Zardari has said that the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) will form the majority in the upcoming Senate elections.

According to the reports, The former president was speaking on the occasion of a dinner party hosted by PPP chairperson Bilawal Bhutto Zardari in honour of the party’s members of the Sindh Assembly.

While addressing the PPP members of the Sindh Assembly and Senate nominees, the PPP co-chairman said that ‘PPP’s elected MPs are my strength. I am proud of my party members, the incumbent government has to go.”

Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah and Sindh Assembly Speaker Agha Siraj Durrani were present on the occasion.

Provincial ministers, members of the Sindh Assembly, and Senate election nominees were also present, according to the reports. PPP MPA Ali Nawaz Mehr, the younger brother of GDA leader Ali Gohar Mehr, also attended the event.

Meanwhile, newly wedded couple Bakhtawar Bhutto-Zardari, and Mehmood Chaudhry also met party members during the dinner.

Opposition parties are ready to give a tough time to the ruling party in the Senate polls.

Last day, a PPP delegation led by Bilawal Bhutto Zardari met with PMLN vice president Maryam Nawaz in Jati Umra, Raiwind in which the political situation, upcoming Senate election and anti-government drive came under discussion during the meeting.

The Senate elections are scheduled to be held on March 03.
