SHIKARPUR: The candidates from Shikarpur have achieved success in the elections on both the national and provincial levels. In the competition between candidates from Shikarpur and Khanpur, Mir Shabir Ali Khan emerged victorious with 125,197 votes, while Dr. Muhammad Ibrahim suffered defeat with 76,864 votes.
In total, Mir Shabir Ali Khan secured 48,333 votes more than his opponent. Shikarpur and Kashmore districts, including Lakhi and Ghari Yasin, saw a total of 192 candidates competing for the national assembly seats, with the government results indicating that PPP candidate Shehryar Khan Mahar won with 131,082 votes, defeating Maulana Rashid Mehmood Soomro who received 56,1053 votes. Shehryar Khan Mahar secured victory with 74,929 votes more than his opponent. In Tehsil Khanpur, PS-7 candidate Imtiaz Ahmed Shaikh garnered 60,904 votes, securing victory against Agha Taimur Pathan who received 43,575 votes. Imtiaz Ahmed Shaikh won with 17,329 votes more than his opponent.
Furthermore, in PS-8 candidate Muhammad Arif Khan Mahar achieved success with with 64,016 votes, defeating Abid Hussain who received 51,869 votes. Muhammad Arif Khan Mahar won with 12,147 votes more than his opponent. In Tehsil Yasin, PS-9 candidate Agha Siraj Durani secured 63,760 votes, while his opponent Maulana Rushdullah Shah Amroti received 25,634 votes.
Agha Siraj Durani won with 38,126 votes more than his opponent. Overall, in the elections for the Shikarpur district, a total of 908,444 votes were cast, with 699,054 votes being cast in favor, resulting in a turnout of 55.21% for NA-192 and 44.53% for NA-193. PS-7 recorded a turnout of 44.82%, PS-8 62.7%, and PS-9 39.04%.
The district saw a voter turnout of 78%. This success signifies the effective representation of the people’s interests in the respective constituencies by the winning candidates, promising positive developments for the next five years.
