PM orders comprehensive investigation into Ghotki train crash

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan has expressed his grief and sorrow over the horrific train accident at Ghotki early this morning which left thirty passengers dead.

In a tweet today, Prime Minister asked the Minister for Railways to reach the site and ensure medical assistance to the injured and support for families of the dead.

Imran Khan also ordered a comprehensive investigation into railway safety fault lines.

This comes as 30 passengers were killed and over 50 injured in a collision between two trains in Ghotki on Monday.

According to details, Sir Syed Express collided with a Millat Express which had been de-tracked. Around 13 to 14 bogies have derailed in the accident.

The death toll is feared to rise.

The Ghotki deputy commissioner said that the Rescue operation is underway and the deceased and injured are being shifted to nearby hospitals.

Emergency has been declared in hospitals in Dharaki and Ghotki, while a makeshift hospital has been established in Raiti.

A relief train has been dispatched from Rohari.
