
ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan is expected to address the nation regarding new COVID-19 related restrictions after chairing a meeting of the National Coordination Committee, The Pakistan Daily can confirm.
The meeting would be joined by senior officials of the National Command and Operations Centre (NCOC) and the Ministry of National Health Services Regulation and Coordination who will discuss the rise of COVID-19 cases in the country.
Earlier, Education Minister Shafqat Mahmood had announced the closure of schools till January 2021 in order to curb the rising infection rate.
Sources within the federal government have revealed to TPD Investigations Desk that more smart lockdowns are expected in different parts of the country.
Almost 3,000 cases were recorded in the last day with 48 deaths. So far, over 7,500 people have died from the viral disease.
39,165 people have been tested yesterday with 7.5% of people testing positive for the viral disease.
