ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan is taking a personal interest in Noor Mukadam’s murder case which has sent shockwaves across Pakistan.
Noor was allegedly murdered and beheaded by Zahir Jaffer, a scion of a wealthy family in the F-7/4 Sector of Islamabad on the night of Chand Raat.
PML-N leader, Maryam Nawaz Sharif has also raised her voice for Noor Mukadam who was barbarically murdered.
Taking to Twitter, Maryam said: “This regime has made the country unsafe for women. From rape apology to victim-blaming, this regime has caused irreparable damage to the safety & dignity of women. My heart goes out to the family of Noor Makdum & all daughters of the soil. Allah be with you.”
While the Prime Minister did not yet tweet in support of Noor Mukadam, Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi demanded justice for Noor and other woman killed in recent acts of violence.
The Foreign Minister said: “I cannot express strongly enough my absolute condemnation of the recent violence and brutality against women. This has no place in our society, lives, religion or culture. We must work harder and do more for prevention & for justice. For Saima, for Quratulain, for Noor.”
PML-N leader Marriyum Aurangzeb also called for justice for Noor.
Zahir Jaffer’s family has been accused of using their influence to lobby for a lesser punishment for their son who they also claimed was mentally unfit.
However, Islamabad Police has confirmed that Zahir was in his senses during the murder, completely eradicating any chances for an insanity plea of the accused.
