Peasant leader Manzoor Laghari still not recovered

Mr Manzoor Laghari, a peasant rights activist, was kidnapped by four unknown people, who came in a colour car at the village of Mr Laghari and said Station House Officer, Police Sinjhoro has called you for a meeting.

According to the details, the incident happened on 27 April 2023 at around 7:30pm.

SHRDN issued statement on the incident with demand of his safe recovery and release and protection to his family witnessed the incident and lodgment of the case against the unknown culprit.

SHRDN also mobilized district chapter headed by Mr. Hosh Mohummad Mangi advocate High Court, member SHRDN, talked to SSP Sanghar for action and also Sindh human rights commission, NHRI for action and support.

Family of the defender along with lawyer Hosh Mohummad visited the SSP Police but fir was not lodged. Later, a case was filed in the district and session judge court which directed the police to lodge the fir. However, after the court order fir was not lodged. Family and lawyer approached to the higher police officials and did protests infront of the press club.

FIR was lodged but now police is not investigating the matter properly not serious in search/recovery of the abductee/defender Manzoor Laghari.

Sindh Human Rights Defenders network has filed a constitutional writ petition at Sindh High Court Hyderabad on Friday, 26 May, 2023.

Media has published the case, complaint has also been sent to ID Police, NCHR, SHRC and other institutions for assistance and help in recovery of Mr. Manzoor but no response has been received yet.
