PDM supports electoral reforms, but could not finalise with ‘selected govt’: Maryam Nawaz

LAHORE: Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) vice-president Maryam Nawaz has said that the recent written order by the Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Gulzar Ahmed in which he said Supreme Court Justice Qazi Faez Isa should not hear cases involving PM Imran Khan is not good for the credibility and respect of the judiciary.

Addressing the press conference in Lahore before leaving for Daska as part of the election campaign for NA-75, She said that PML-N and PDM are not against the electoral reforms, however, the reformations could not be finalised with the selected government. PDM is not in support of polls through secret ballot and they are against the dual standard.

In the recent statement of DG ISPR, he said: “The army should not be dragged into politics,” Maryam said DG ISPR is a respectable person for her, however, the things will not get improved through such statements.

PML-N VP said that the whole system of justice and the respect of the judiciary is being risked to save an unqualified and incompetent person.

She also criticised the government for using the tactic against PML-N. The public opinion will go in the favour of her political party which raised voice against the dual standard of the justice system. The institutions have been pushed to target a political party, she alleged. The state and all institutions have been thrust against a PML-N but it did not break apart,” Maryam adding that the reason behind this was the PML-N becoming an “ideological party”.

Meanwhile, On her arrival to Daska Maryam Nawaz tweeted the video.
