LAHORE: Mohtarma Maryam Nawaz Sharif visited Khokhar Palace in Johar Town to meet with Malik Afzal Khokhar and Saif ul Mulook Khokhar to express solidarity against the alleged victimisation by the Punjab government.
Earlier, a part of their property, Khokhar Palace had been bulldozed by the Lahore Development Authority under the directions of Chief Minister Usman Buzdar. The CM’s office confirmed that property worth over a billion rupees had been recovered.
PML-N members have claimed that the Khokhar brothers were targetted only because of giving support to the Pakistan Democratic Movement. The Khokhar brothers provided logistic and financial support for PDM rallies, mobilising thousands of people for the PDM’s cause.
In a voice message which has been heard by The Pakistan Daily, former Prime Minister, Mian Nawaz Sharif can be heard condoling with the Khokhar brothers. At one point, Mian Nawaz Sharif says: “The way they are carrying out injustices, Allah will definitely hold them accountable. I am quite sure that they’re days are numbered. All my sympathies are with you and your family.”
Commenting on the development, PML-N leader, Afzal Khokhar said: “Those people used the dark of night to show their gangsterism and take the law in their own hands. If we wanted, we could’ve resisted it but we don’t want to do anything like this. We don’t want to take the law in our own hands.”
Afzal Khokhar criticised Prime Minister for politically victimising his family and destroying his property.
Later, the Lahore High Court provided relief to the Khokhar brothers and confirmed that they had a right to the property.
