ISLAMABAD: Mian Nawaz Sharif has congratulated Yousaf Raza Gilani for his victory in the Senate elections.
Taking to Twitter, the PML-N supremo said: “My sincerest felicitations to Mr. Yousuf Raza Gilani on his glorious victory in the Senate elections.”
In a major upset, Yousaf Raza Gilani, the joint candidate of PDM, has been elected as a senator from Islamabad after defeating Abdul Hafeez Sheikh of PTI.
As per the official results announced by the Returning officer (RO), Gillani got 169 votes whereas Shaikh could only get 164 votes. Seven votes were rejected by the ECP officials.
In a recent victory, PPP chairperson Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari tweeted “Democracy is the best revenge”.
PMLN Vice president Maryam Nawaz also tweeted stated that: “Thanks to Allah Almighty who gave victory to PDM. Fake mandate snatched back by people’s representatives – Despite pressure from their own people, flour thieves, sugar thieves, power thieves, vote thieves refused to vote for Imran Khan.”
Meanwhile, ruling party Senator Faisal Javed khan also posted in his tweeter: “Horse trading at its peak. Must be investigated and justice must be served. May ALLAH help Imran Khan eliminate corruption from this country. We are with you Imran Khan – You are sole fighter against corruption and you will win insha’ALLAH”
