ISLAMABAD: Yousaf Raza Gilani’s son, Kasim Gilani has declared his father’s victory as a vote of no confidence against Prime Minister Imran Khan.
In an exclusive conversation with The Pakistan Daily, Syed Kasim Gilani said: “God is great. This is PPP’s and PDM’s victory. We thank Allah for giving us this victory. This election is a No Confidence against Prime Minister Imran Khan.”
Kasim Gilani further mentioned that the PPP would now elect their own Senate chairman. Political pundits predict that it will be Yousaf Raza Gilani.
He further mentioned that the PDM would now plan a vote of No Confidence against Prime Minister Imran Khan after Yousaf Raza Gilani’s victory.

Earlier, Yousaf Raza Gilani beat Hafeez Sheikh for Islamabad’s senate seat. Gilani won 169 votes while Hafeez Sheikh was only able to secure 164 votes. This is despite the fact that PTI and it’s allies had a lead of 18 MNAs in the National Assembly, reflecting that Prime Minister Imran Khan has lost the majority in the National Assembly.
Commenting on the development, Mohtarma Reham Khan shared a picture of former President, Asif Zardari, quoting Otto Von Bismarck.
“Politics is the art of the possible, the attainable — the art of the next best Otto von Bismarck”, Reham Khan wrote on her Twitter whilst sharing a picture of Asif Zardari.
Senator Sehar Kamran also congratulated the PPP and PDM for Yousaf Raza Gilani’s victory. She wrote: “Congrats to all the democratic forces, #PPP leadership & #PDM Let the Celebrations begin”.
