PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government has confirmed that the fatalities in the Bannu attack were caused by the collapse of a mosque roof due to the blasts.
KP Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur condemned the attack and sought a detailed report from senior officials. He expressed deep sorrow over the loss of lives, offering condolences to the families of the martyrs and praying for their elevated ranks and the strength of the bereaved.
Gandapur described such incidents during the sacred month of Ramadan as highly condemnable and tragic.
KP Adviser on Information Barrister Saif stated that the terrorist attack and subsequent explosions in Bannu Cantonment caused the roofs of nearby buildings to collapse. He added that security forces swiftly neutralized all the attackers, preventing further damage.
Barrister Saif confirmed that the casualties occurred when the roof of a nearby mosque collapsed due to the explosions. He called the incident deeply saddening and reiterated the government’s determination to thwart the enemies of the state.
The Chief Minister has ordered an investigation into the incident, and the provincial government has expressed solidarity with the families of the martyrs and the injured.
