Avid fans of Pakistani dramas can all agree on one thing: Adeel Hussain still lives rent-free in their minds. From his interpretation of Jamshed in Jackson Heights and Junaid inside Dammthe actor has emerged as one of the most prominent stars of the Pakistani entertainment industry.

Starting his career in 2007, Adeel made his debut in the showbiz industry with Dunya Goal Haiand four years later, he made a name for himself by winning the Best New Actor award for his popular offering, Damm. Despite starring in a number of TV dramas, Adeel has kept out of the limelight in recent years. That doesn’t mean, however, that he’s gone from the hearts and minds of his fans.

Triggering a river of praise for X, a fan posted four pictures of the actor in various roles on her handle and lamented, “Adeel Hussain had his type. He just didn’t have the social media age.”

The fan went on to note that in his prime, Adeel had even more appeal than the biggest stars in Pakistani showbiz today. “Adeel Hussain was a more credible actress than Humayun and Fawad at that time. People tuned into his dramas because he associated good dramas with his name. Not good aesthetics or good scenes or good looks. But overall a good drama overall.”

The post led to an outpouring of agreement from fans, many of whom believe the actor has hit it off hard by starting his career at a time when social media wasn’t the unbridled force it is today. One particular fan is still haunted by Damm took a trip down memory lane steeped in nostalgia and wrote, “Fans of the 2000 Pakistani drama knew. I loved him in Daam and to this day, I feel so heartbroken for him because men deserved better.”

As with all online discussions, a lone dissenting voice emerged, calling Adeel’s talent “limited,” criticizing the actor for his role in Jackson Heights.

However, others were quick to dispute the view, pointing out that Adeel’s character on the show was meant to be unlikeable.

Meanwhile, a fan went to the extent of calling the actor, ‘Pakistan and Aditya Roy Kapur’.

One thing is clear: out of the limelight or in it, Adeel has firmly established himself in the affections of his fans.
