KARACHI: Maulana Tariq Jamil (MTJ) Brand came up with the clarification about the price of drawstrings (Nara) at their store.
The netizens have been trolling MTJ for the last few days on the price of a drawstring (Nara).
A picture of a drawstring went viral with the tag of MTJ and a price tag of Rs550.

However, according to a press release, the brand has denied the news of selling drawstrings. “It has come to our notice that MTJ- Tariq Jamil is being accused of selling drawstrings (nara) for Rs.550 apiece,” reads the statement.
“We would like to clarify that the news is fake. We do not manufacture drawstrings (nara) and our stores and website have never placed such article for sale. Please beware of spreading false news and help us report those who are involved in this malpractice,” the statement added.
Pakistani social media user is criticizing Maulana Tariq Jamil dual standard. One wrote “This is an outfit from Maulana Tariq Jameel’s newly launched clothing brand. The trouser is above ankles but it won’t cause earthquakes and pandemics because Maulana sb designed it Upside-down face. Hypocrisy is the hallmark of mullahs.”
On the other hand, Maulana’s supporters called out the critics for unfairly criticizing him for launching the MTJ brand.
Meanwhile, in a video message, Maulana explains the reason for launching his own brand.
“Since 2000, I had been thinking about starting a business for my religious activities, especially to run a madrassa. During COVID-19’s lockdown, I have the opportunity to put that idea into practice,” he said.
He added that “That was my intention to make the madrassas self-sufficient and a few of my friends collaborated with me, after which we launched a brand with my name.”
