Maulana Tariq Jameel contracts coronavirus, PM Khan wishes prays for swift recovery

ISLAMABAD: Renowned religious scholar Maulana Tariq Jameel has tested positive for the novel coronavirus on Sunday.
Prime Minister Imran Khan wished him a swift recovery.
Confirming the news through his Twitter handle, Tariq Jameel said that he underwent a COVID-19 test on Sunday after suffering from virus symptoms.
The religious leader said he has checked himself into the hospital on the doctors’ advice. “I request you all to make special du’ās,” he added.
Pakistan’s coronavirus positivity rate is at 8 per cent, with 72 deaths recorded over the past 24 hours, bringing the total number to 8,796. The country’s aggregate infections are 438,425, of which 46,692 are active cases.
Maulana Tariq Jameel is one of the most popular Deobandi scholars and preachers in the country.
He belongs to the Tableeghi Jamaat group.
