RAWALPINDI: Various reliable sources have told The Pakistan Daily that Lt Gen Faiz Hameed may be appointed as the new Commander of the XI Corps based in Peshawar while Lt Gen Nadeem Ahmed Anjum may be the new Director-General of the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI).
Lt Gen Faiz Hameed has led the ISI during the time of the Fall of Kabul and his potential appointment as Commander of the XI Corps based in Peshawar will provide a steady and firm hand for the Pakistani armed forces.
Who may be the new DG ISI?
Lt Gen Nadeem Ahmed Anjum who serves as the Corps Commander in Karachi may be appointed as the new DG ISI according to various sources privy to this matter.
In an exclusive conversation with The Pakistan Daily, investor and political commentator, Mir Mohammad Ali Khan said: “Nadeem has some big shoes to fill after Faiz but he will absolutely do that. His history has taught us that. He delivered in the most difficult of places earlier. Balochistan. Then Karachi. And now ISI.”
Mir Mohammad Ali Khan stated that Lt Gen Nadeem is a great general and would prove to be absolutely great for Pakistan.
Lt Gen Faiz Hameed is considered to be amongst the most professional, talented and resourceful soldiers in the Pakistani army and it has been speculated that Lt Gen Faiz Hameed is a primary contender as Pakistan’s next army chief.
