RAWALPINDI: ISPR has confirmed that Lt Gen Faiz Hameed has been appointed as the Commander of the XI Corps based in Peshawar.
Lt Gen Faiz Hameed served as the Director-General of the Inter-Services Intelligence from 16 June 2019 till 6 October 2021. During his time in Pakistan’s premier intelligence agency, the Taliban took over Kabul and Lt Gen Faiz Hameed’s efforts for peace and stability in the region have been recognised internationally.
Editor of The Nation, Salman Masood shared details of the new transfers as revealed by ISPR.
The Pakistan Daily Editor, Mr Hamza Azhar Salam was the first journalist to break this news on October 3, 2021.
However, after breaking this news, a smear campaign against Mr Hamza Azhar Salam was orchestrated which accused the journalist of spreading fake news.
Whilst responding to Hamza Azhar Salam’s tweet, famous author Ayesha Siddiqa asked: “Issue is not that he will be Corps Commander XI corps but who will be the next ISI chief in the interim period?”
It is expected that Lt Gen Nadeem Ahmed Anjum will be the new DG ISI.
