LAHORE: Former Defence Minister Khawaja Asif’s wife and son have been booked by the Anti Corruption Establishment (ACE) in an alleged housing scam.
Chaudhry Toheed Akhtar who previously served as Mayor Sialkot and Ahsan Raza Khan and former PML-N MPA from Chunian has also been booked in the same case.
Khawaja Asif is presently an opposition leader for the Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PMLN) in the national assembly.
“I will knock at the door of the court and discuss the merits and demerits of the case in the court,” Khawaja Asif told a reporter.
According to ACE, the Kent Society, which is co-owned by Toheed Akhtar and Mrs Khawaja Asif illegally encroached on 281 kanals after the approval of the first map.
ACE believes that the society’s encroachment had caused a major loss to Pakistan’s national exchequer.
The Director-General of ACE, Mohammad Gohar Nafees said that the law would take its course and every penny would be recovered.
It is pertinent to mention that DG ACE, Mohammad Gohar Nafees is himself under investigation by NAB over allegations of amassing assets beyond means.

TPD Investigations Desk can confirm that NAB has formally requested the asset details of Mr Nafees from Deputy Commissioner, Multan.
Previously, opposition leaders have claimed that the PTI led government is using anti-corruption institutions to politically engineer desired results by subjugating opposition politicians.
