ISLAMABAD: The wife of Supreme Court (SC) judge Justice Qazi Faez Isa has moved the court for a contempt case against Federal Minister Fawad Chaudhry over a tweet.
Sarena Isa has moved the court two days after the PTI minister two days ago shared a tweet aiming at the judge of the apex court.
In a Twitter post, Federal Minister for Science and Technology Fawad Chaudhry has asked Supreme Court (SC) judge Justice Qazi Faez Isa to resign from his position and contest a councillor election so he can determine his popularity and acceptance rate among the public.
“We have been hearing speeches of an under-trial Supreme Court judge for a week, but we would be accused of contempt of court if we respond to it,” he said in a tweet.
The minister added that “those inclined towards politics must contest elections to realise their popularity and acceptability.”
Minister for Human Rights Shireen Mazari quoted: “#IStandWithFawadChaudhary”
SAPM Shabaz Gil twitted: “Fawad Chaudhry always respect the court. But when you make political statements. You call the country a gutter, then who understands politics and political statements more than Chaudhry. Chaudhry will answer.”
While the ruling PTI’s supporters agreed with his tweet, the minister also received support from other federal ministers. A trend on Twitter stating “I Stand With Fawad Chaudhry” is also on the top.
One user wrote: “Justice Qazi Faez is an accused. He is presenting his case. His arguments r political. Thus, he is vulnerable to criticism and the petition filed by Serina Esa is absurd.”
Another wrote: “I completely support and agree with the stance of
@fawadchaudhry”
