ISLAMABAD: In a surreptitious development that has caused much unease in the federal capital, Justice Qazi Faez Isa’s phone was hacked by unknown elements, according to the Supreme Court of Pakistan.
Justise Isa is a senior Supreme Court judge and is known for his uprightness, honesty and principled stance.
More recently, a presidential reference against Qazi Faez Isa was quashed by the Supreme Judicial Council after no allegation against Justice Isa could be proven.
Sources in Islamabad claim that Justice Isa’s trouble’s began when he made some remarks regarding the Dharna in Faizabad which had irked powerful elements which are bent on teaching the judge a lesson of a lifetime.
After the verdict, Justice Isa’s wife, Sarina Isa was targeted in a campaign by FBR even after she had declared all her properties. The timing of the action against Justice Isa’s family led many corners to believe that he was being victimised just for being an upright judge.
According to the Supreme Court’s press officer: “The cell phone of Justice Qazi Faez Isa has been hacked and there is suspicion that misguiding communication can be made from his lordship’s number to anyone with ulterior motives,” a press release by the Supreme Court said.
“Therefore, the communication purportedly made from [Justice Isa’s] cell phone, which his lordship had not sent, may be treated as fake and false,” it added.
