Javed Afridi promises ‘significant changes’

Javed Afridi promises ‘significant changes’

For the first time in the history of the Pakistani Super League (PSL) HBL, Peshawar Zalmi failed to qualify for the playoffs and owner Javed Afridi does not take it slightly.

In a sincere message published on X (formerly Twitter), Afridi turned to the base of the team’s fans after a HBL PSL 10 disappointing campaign that ended with just four wins from ten games.

The Babar Azam-Led Side’s Last Hope was Extinguish

“The result of this season hurts, but this platform remains a launchpad for national career,” Afridi wrote. “Significant changes are coming – we will rebuild with sand and purpose.

Zalmi finished their campaign with 8 points and a negative net execution rate -0.293, marking a significant drop for a team that had never lost knockouts before.

The champions in 2017 and the finalists four times, Zalmi has long been one of the most consistent HBL PSL forces.

However, Afridi hit a promising tone, promises that the “yellow storm” will return stronger.

Plans was presented to expand the fans involvement, announcing new fan parks, a Zalmi fan zone inside the stadiums and live marketing campaigns for coming seasons.

“This is not just a group. It’s a movement,” Afridi added. “As a national product. Let us unite to support all PSL groups in the spirit of cricket.”

With sweeping changes to the horizon and Afridi confirming his focus on players’ development and team rebuilding, one thing is clear – Zalmi may be down, but not out.
