ISLAMABAD: FIA is investigating former PM Imran Khan and Zulfi Bukhari for allegedly stealing a valuable necklace and selling it for 18 crores.
According to the FIA, a few hundred thousand rupees were deposited in the Toshakhana in return for a necklace worth 18 crores in what the institution considers daylight robbery.
In a leaked phone call, former PTI leader Aleem Khan claimed that a senior government official was removed from his post after he told former prime minister Imran Khan about an alleged necklace which was gifted to the former first wife by Malik Riaz.
Earlier, Imran Khan’s close friend and former special assistant has denied selling any necklace from the Toshakhana on behalf of Imran Khan after the FIA began an inquiry into the alleged transaction.
Responding to a question by The Pakistan Daily regarding FIA’s investigation, Zulfi Bukhari said: “Completely fake news and rubbish. They have lost their stupid little minds.”
When The Pakistan Daily asked Zulfi Bukhari whether he had ever bought or sold anything from the Toshakhana, he replied: “Never sold anything ever. Nor has PM or his family ever given me anything to sell. Completely baseless.”
Sources from FIA confirmed to The Pakistan Daily that they had initiated an inquiry against Imran Khan and Zulfi Bukhari for allegedly selling an expensive necklace gifted to the state of Pakistan to a private jeweller for a whopping 18 crore rupees.
