Govt to challenge removal of Shehbaz’s name from blacklist: Fawad Chaudhry

ISLAMABAD: Federal Information Minister Fawad Chaudhry on Saturday announced that the government will challenge the Lahore high court decision in the Shehbaz Sharif case.

In his tweet, Chaudhry said that “the director-general of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has the power to add or remove any name from the blacklist.”

He further added that so far no request has been made by the lawyers of Shehbaz Sharif to remove his name from the blacklist.

Earlier, PML-N President and Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly Mian Shehbaz Sharif was offloaded from a Qatar-bound flight at Allama Iqbal International Airport Lahore early Saturday morning.

Shehbaz was scheduled to leave for Doha from the Lahore airport today onboard a foreign airline. After spending some days in quarantine in Doha, he had planned to fly to London where he was to consult his doctors.

The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Friday permitted PML-N President Shehbaz Sharif to fly abroad for medical treatment.
