ISLAMABAD: Former Chief Justice of Pakistan Irshad Hassan Khan has claimed that behind the lawyer’s movement was also the support of a military general.
According to details, former Chief Justice of Pakistan Irshad Hassan Khan while talking on GNNTV program ‘GK Sang’, said that there was an army general behind the lawyers’ movement against Pervez Musharraf for the restoration of Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry.
Responding to senior lawyer Aitzaz Ahsan, he said that Aitzaz Ahsan had started the movement when Chief Justice Iftikhar had refused to resign at the behest of Pervez Musharraf. The then Chief of Staff General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani also wanted to send Musharraf home.
This movement would never have been successful if it had not been for Ashirabad Lawyers Movement.
When Justice Saeed Alzaman Siddiqui refused to take oath under PCO then why the lawyers did not start the movement. Why the politicians did not start the movement. Why the movement was not launched, why the politicians remained silent. He further said that when Justice Munir validated martial law then why the lawyers did not launch the movement.
This movement was not started because no movement in Pakistan succeeds in the era of martial law. When the movement against Musharraf was started then the constitution was restored. The government was weak. Aitzaz Ahsan has his own point of view but he can speak according to it. Former Chief Justice of Pakistan Irshad Hassan Khan further said in the video.
