SOUTH WAZIRISTAN: Four personnel of the security forces were martyred in a gunbattle with terrorists in the South Waziristan district, late Thursday night, said a statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the media wing of the Pakistan Army.
Troops responded promptly to the attack and killed four assailants. “During the exchange of fire, four soldiers embraced shahadat,” the statement added.
The martyred soldiers were identified as Lance Naik Imran Ali, Sepoy Atif Jehangir, Sepoy Aneesur Rehman, and Sepoy Aziz.
“Area sanitisation in progress,” the ISPR statement said.
The same day, terrorists fired 5 rockets from inside Afghanistan in Lagharai sector and Sarakai top in Bajaur. A 5-year-old child from Mamund, Bajaur, lost life while 7 minors including a girl was injured in the terrorist attack.
Condolences
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Mahmood Khan has condemned the attack and offered condolences to the families of the martyrs. “In the fight against terrorists in the region, the army and security forces have given great sacrifices,” he said.
