Former Afghan President Ashraf Ghani’s Facebook page hacked

KABUL: Former Afghan President Ashraf Ghani has said that his official Facebook page has been hacked.

Ashraf Ghani confirmed via a tweet that somebody had gained unauthorised access to his Facebook account.

He tweeted, “Urgent: The official Facebook page of Dr Mohammad Ashraf Ghani has been hacked since yesterday. No content published on this page is valid until the page is retrieved.”

The unknown hacker posted a message from Ashraf Ghani’s Facebook profile asking the international community to legitimise the new Taliban government in Afghanistan.

Meanwhile, the statement also said that the international community should interact, support and assist the Taliban, adding that the Taliban government should be recognized.

Ghani fled to the United Arab Emirates after the Taliban laid siege on Kabul last month.
