MUZAFFARABAD: An impressive flag hoisting ceremony was held at the City Campus of the University of Azad Jammu and Kashmir on the occasion of the 75th Independence Day of Pakistan here on Sunday.
Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Muhammad Kaleem Abbasi opened the ceremony by hoisting the national flag while Associate Dean Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences, Dr. Bashirur Rahman Kanth and the President of Academic Staff Association, Dr. Nazanin Habib hoisted the flag of Azad Jammu and Kashmir. The Dean Faculty of Sciences Professor Dr. Ghulam Murtaza hoisted the flag of the university.
On this occasion, a contingent of university’s security staff saluted the national flag and the flag of Azad Kashmir.
After unfurling the flag, a special prayer was offered for the security, development, and prosperity of Pakistan, unity, and solidarity in Azad Jammu and Kashmir, and early success of the ongoing freedom struggle waged by valiant people in Indian Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IOJK) for their freedom and right to self-determination.
A large number of university employees including deans, heads of various departments, faculty members, and administrative officers participated in the ceremony. Earlier Vice-Chancellor, Prof Dr. Muhammad Kaleem Abbasi called on Prime Minister of Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Sardar Tanveer Ilyas Khan and discussed with various academic issues.
