  • FBR to monitor the monitoring of social media to identify tax weakens.
  • The tax body identifies people who declare assets, RS3BN income.
  • 450 officers had to verify those who declare less assets, income.

ISLAMABAD: The Federal Revenue Council (FBR) has decided to launch a repression against wealthy people who are potential tax abstraction and those involved in huge incorrect configuration of their assets and income.

The idea of starting a repression was caused when FBR found that only 1,100 people have declared a net value of RS1 billions, The news reported on Sunday.

This number is further shrinking to just 100 people who have declared assets or income worth 3 billion Rs across the country.

“The FBR has commissioned a team to monitor social media to identify potential tax escapes in major Pakistani urban centers and has found hundreds of such people,” the top official FBR sources confirmed while speaking in the publication.

“A dedicated team under the supervision of FBB’s intelligence and research, the General Manager of Income Service has been commissioned to identify and then launch a repression against those who show that they deserve billions of rupees, but they said much less or even less or even.

Official sources reported that the FBR identified events managers in one of the big urban centers that managed a wedding event where Rs148 million were spent. This event management company organized four to six weddings per month.

The whole idea of launching a repression against potential tax release was caused when the FBR examined the 2024 tax returns and found that only 1,100 people across Pakistan declared property worth RS1 billions.

When the criteria were further reduced and the benchmark was set to assets or income worth 3 billion Rs, the number was reduced to just 100 people from a total population of 240 million in the country.

The FBR, official sources said, has replaced 450 IRS inspectors (IRS) across the country, which have been commissioned to conduct surveys to verify and control those who declared significantly less assets and income than in fact.

Initially, FBR has identified three to four major areas. For example, the monitoring of social media will be closely monitored to identify those involved in proof of their wealth.

The FBR has secured information from event management companies to identify potential tax weakens and has found hundreds of people who have spent many millions to organize marriage functions. They have spent millions on jewelry and organizing wedding events.

The FBR also recognized an exhibition owner whose assets are worth billions of rupees, but showed negligible income in his reserve return.

Similarly, a real estate tycoon who created multiple shopping malls in Islamabad found that he had not stated significant assets in his yields. “We have examined the refunds of the last tax year and have found enormous abuse, so FBR’s IRS are ready to launch a repression against taxpayers to create a deterrent factor,” the employee said.

FBR is in the recruitment process of more than 1,600 controllers for selecting control cases and conducting effective controls during current use. FBR has set a goal of collecting over 400 billion R through effective enforcement in order to achieve the ambitious target of RS14.13 trillion tax.

The revenue collector faced a deficit during the first two months and is now heading for a deficit of at least 100 billion Rs to achieve the agreed goal for the first quarter period (July -September) with the International Monetary Fund. Effective enforcement is one of the options, the employee ended.
