EV Startup from Lahore brings International Jazz Musicians to the city

Jazz is recognized worldwide for its rich cultural heritage rooted in the African-American experience. Since its inception in the early 20th century, Jazz has contributed to and been a reflection of American culture and is widely considered the only original American art form.

It features a swing and blue notes, complex chords, call-and-response vocals, polyrhythms, and improvisation.

Live Jazz has had its day in the post-Independence nightlife of Karachi, and then Sachal Studio revived the genre in Lahore in the past decade. Most recently, The Lahore Jazz Club was founded by Hasan Mian for his passion for Jazz and to enrich the entertainment landscape of his hometown.

The monumental initiative is paving the way for local Jazz musicians to debut and perform, with some of the most famous orchestras appearing and traveling from overseas. The Lahore Jazz club has partnered with FACE (Foundation for Arts, Culture and Education).

For the last 25 years, this organization has been empowering communities through a blend of art, music, and culture. They are together bringing the Jazz Festival to Lahore!

The cultural heart of the country, Lahore, is welcoming international artists. The latest addition is a two-day International Jazz Festival being presented at Hall No: 2, Al-Hamra Arts Council in Lahore on the 4th & 5th of December 2022 with jazz bands such as jazz pianist and composer Marcel Balinski from Poland, the Viennese jazz trio Dusha Connection from Austria, the multi-talented The Late-Night Cats from Switzerland, Red Orchestra and VIP from Pakistan.

Yes Electromotive, a progressive electric vehicle start-up from Lahore, is funding the festival. And the festival is supported by the Embassies of Austria, Poland, Switzerland & the United States.

It is heartening to see internationally renowned jazz bands and performers, once again, performing in Lahore and enthralling audiences with a genre of music that the younger generation is taking a fancy to.
