The actor faced intense backlash online when he and Ariana started dating. He talked about how he deals with the attention during his appearance on Just for variety podcast.
“My therapist, for sure. He’s been really helpful,” Slater said of how he deals with scrutiny.
“At the end of the day, what’s so important in so many aspects of life, whether it’s fame or career or whatever, is just having a good group of people around you,” he added.
She shared: “I’m really lucky to have amazing friends and wonderful family who are down to earth and helpful and loving and caring. This is a kind of crazy ride that is just beginning. ‘Wicked’ doesn’t come out for another two whole days, three days. So it’s all just beginning, this whirlwind. But I was really grateful to have good people to lean on and hopefully they can lean on me.”
Slater also shared that he turned to his co-star Goldblum for advice on fame when he stepped up to film to make his big screen debut.
“I was just like, ‘Hey, what am I waiting for? What’s coming?” And his answer was really funny to me. It was like, “Oh, I don’t know. I’ve never done anything this big before,” Slater said.
He continued: “That can’t be true, first of all. And he said, “Well, I think everything is always like that, it’s always bigger. Find the ways.’ … There was something, actually, really, a great relief that he didn’t really have any advice to offer him, other than the normal kind of, ‘Take it day by day,’ because there’s something outrageous about promotion. of a movie and being a part of something that so many people care about and I don’t think it will ever feel completely normal… But it’s definitely been an exciting roller coaster ride.”
