ISLAMABAD: The Director-General of Pakistan’s premier intelligence agency, Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI), Lt General Faiz Hameed has been appointed as the chairman of the newly formed National Intelligence Coordination Committee (NICC).
Under Lt General Faiz’s visionary leadership, the ISI which is considered to be one of the most efficient and powerful intelligence agencies in the world will help intelligence coordination between different Pakistani agencies.
Already, two productive meetings have been held in this regard after which Prime Minister Imran Khan approved the formation of the newly made NICC.
The NICC would serve as a mechanism to coordinate between the multiple intelligence agencies in the country.
It has been learnt that the National Counter Terrorism Authority (NACTA) would also be part of the new structure.
This development comes as a reform within Pakistan’s intelligence apparatus as it was previously held that there was not efficient coordination and intelligence sharing between various agencies.
DG ISI, Lt General Faiz Hameed who is considered to be one of the best intelligence operators in the world is expected to play a significant role in consolidating the intelligence apparatus in Pakistan so that all agencies can work more efficiently to protect the interests of Pakistan.
