Brussels: A cyberspace in a service provider for check-in and boarding systems has disrupted work at several large European airports, including Heathrow, Brussels and Beroli London, causing flight delays and cancellations on Saturday.
Collins Aerospace, which provides check-in and boarding systems for several airlines at multiple airports worldwide, is facing a technical issue that can cause delays to depart for passengers, London’s Heathrow Airport said on Saturday.
RTX, a parent of Collins Aerospace, was not readily available for comments outside the US working hours.
The attack has made automated non-functional systems, allowing only manual check-in and boarding procedures, Brussels Airport said on its website.
“This has a big impact on the timetable of flights and unfortunately it will cause delays and cancellations … The service provider works actively on the subject and trying to solve the problem as quickly as possible.”
Passengers on a flight scheduled for Saturday were informed by influenced airports to confirm their travels by airlines before heading to the airport.
“Due to a technical issue in a system provider operating throughout Europe, there are longer waiting times in check-in. We are working on a quick solution,” Berlin Airport said on a banner on its website.
Frankfurt Airport, Germany’s largest, was not affected, one spokesman said. An employee from the Business Control Center at Zurich Airport also said he had not been affected.
