The District and Sessions Court Lahore has disposed of the bail petition of the main suspect in the case of killing six members of a family in a car accident in Defence, Lahore.
The court rejected Afnan’s application for being withdrawn.
Additional Sessions Judge Shahid Mehmood heard the bail application of the suspect, Afnan.
His lawyer said the police had now added provisions of terrorism to the case, so they wished to withdraw the bail application.
The provisions of terrorism have been included in the case, the plaintiff’s lawyer said, adding that after the inclusion of Section 7 of ATA, the application is not maintainable.
Afnan had filed for bail before the sessions court Lahore after his arrest. A case against him has been registered at the Defense C police station. Afnan is currently in police custody on a five-day physical remand.
Meanwhile, Afnan’s father has sought pre-arrest interim bail to evade arrest in the case. The anti-terrorism court approved the interim bail of Shafqat Ali till November 27.
The bail was approved in exchange for bail bonds of Rs100,000.
The court ordered the suspect to join the investigation and sought a report from the investigation officer at the next hearing.
ATC judge Abhar Gul conducted proceedings on the bail petition.
