KARACHI: Clifton Police registered FIR against the owner of Ocean Mall, Malik Tariq Rafi, and others for operating a faulty escalator in which a minor boy, Amaan, got stuck and had to get his leg amputated.
According to the details, the three-year-old child lost his foot after being caught in an escalator in the Ocean Mall, Karachi, on March 22.
According to a video that went viral on the internet after the incident, the child was severely injured after getting stuck in an escalator in the shopping mall.
The FIR was registered under Section 25 of the Telegraph Act (for threatening the child’s parents over the phone) and Section 337-F of the PPC (causing grievous bodily harm).
After the incident, the Parents raised their plight on a digital media platform and in return received threats from the management of Ocean Mall.
According to the parents, Management of Ocean Mall also tried to intimidate the family by dragging them into a civil suit claiming damages for loss of reputation.
Earlier, the family of a three-year-old boy staged a protest over the delay in the registration of a case against the management of the mall despite the passage of a month.
