Cega started to cultivate 200 game games, cartoons

Islamabad:

The government began the Center for Excellence in Gaming and Animation (CEGA), with a total investment of RS2.52 billions, an important initiative to accelerate the development of the country’s creative technology industry.

The project is managed by the Ignite National Technology Fund and is executed by HUM Networks, marking an important step in developing local talents and businesses in games, animations and digital media.

Following multiple rounds of technical and financial evaluations, HUM Networks was awarded the project in May 2025 and a formal contract was signed in mid -July. The project is planned and implemented in accordance with the rules of the Public Procurement Regulatory Authority to ensure transparency.

During its five -year term, CEGA will benefit from 200 newly established companies and will provide training opportunities for 10,000 young people throughout Pakistan. It will also provide partnerships, access to development tools and modern equipment and guidance programs aimed at preparing participants for global competition.

Pakistan’s toy and cartoon sector is already showing signs of growth. The industry has created about $ 170 million in revenue last year and today employs more than 8,000 professionals. With more than 30,000 ICT graduates entering the workforce annually, along with a large, young and English population, the country has a strong basis to escalate its creative industries.

During a launch event at NED University in Karachi, the government stressed the CEGA’s potential to lift Pakistan’s share in world gambling and cartoon markets. Employees also announced plans for a virtual production studio of RS1 billions to support the center’s activities and further enhance the ecosystem for the creation of digital content.

Industry experts believe that CEGA can serve as a catalyst for innovation by linking creative arts to technology to help Pakistan gain visibility in regional and international creative economy.

Providing structured support for newly established businesses, skill training and infrastructure access, the center aims to create new youth opportunities, while placing Pakistan as a pop -up junction in gambling and animations.
