CCPO Lahore goes on leave after abusing female

LAHORE: Controversial CCPO Lahore, Umar Sheikh went on a three-day leave on Wednesday.

Previously CCPO Lahore was the subject of scrutiny after he made immoral remarks against the motorway victim. He has also abused his junior officers and had altercations with them in the past. Many of the officers have relieved themselves of police duties due to the CCPO’s behaviour.

“CCPO Lahore Umar Sheikh is on leave till October 21, 22 and 23,” said a spokesperson of the CCPO office. “Muhammad Umar Sheikh will perform his duties from October 24.”

An audio clip surfaced on Tuesday in which the CCPO Lahore allegedly abuses a woman named Naila. She had filed a complaint against Chowki In-charge ADA Plot Sub-inspector Haider Ali.

Naila had complained that the man had abducted and illegally detained her husband. She accused the sub-inspector of coercing the couple into selling their house so she could pay the sub-inspector a bribe of Rs2mn for her husband’s release.

Naila confirmed that Sheikh had hurled abuses at her.
